Team India have quite a few selection headache as the first Test against Australia approaches. The depleted visiting team have quite a few worries heading into the Perth Test and will need to make a couple of interesting selection calls as well.

Even before the start of the tour, Team India have been hit with injury issues to some of their key players which has derailed their playing combination for the match on November 22. Shubman Gill, who was supposed to bat at number 3, injured his left thumb and was ruled out of the Test match.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the star India opener also suffered from a neck spasm, but fortunately, he has recovered well and will feature in the game. However, with no Rohit Sharma in the Indian team, the head coach and the management needs to find a suitable opener for the first Test in Perth. Ahead of the match, we look at India's possible top 6 which could feature Vs Australia.

Jaiswal to open with KL Rahul

With no Rohit Sharma in the side and Gill injured, India have no choice but to play KL Rahul at the opening slot. The Karnataka batter has the experience of opening the batting in Test matches and the talented player has done well at that position.

He will have a big responsibility alongside Jaiswal to give India a solid start on a spicy Perth surface, assisting the seamers.

Padikkal at number 3, Kohli at 4

Devdutt Padikkal impressed the team management in the net session and will feature in the playing XI for the 1st Test. Gill was the preferred choice for the number 3 slot, but with him injured, India have to go with Padikkal, who has done well in the domestic circuit for Karnataka.

Team's most experienced player, Virat Kohli will shoulder the responsibility at number 4. He loves playing in Australia and will need to deliver the goods since the others around him don't have much of an experience playing on Australian shores.

Jurel and Pant at 5, 6

The two exciting players will play at number 5 and 6. Jurel did extremely well in the unofficial Test match against Australia A and looked compact in the middle. He is a wicket-keeper, but will play as a pure batter at number 5.

Now, the wicket-keeping slot goes to Rishabh Pant. He averages nearly 60 in the Australia and loves playing against them. Apart from Kohli, he is India's most experienced batter on this tour.
