The IPL franchises are gearing up for the mini auction after submitting their respective retention lists. According to the latest update, 1355 players have registered for the IPL mini auction, with 45 cricketers setting their base price at INR 2 crores.

As the IPL teams strategise for the mini auction, here are four players from the 2Cr bracket who can be the most expensive buys ahead of the 2026 season.

Cameron Green

Why Cameron Green can be one of the most expensive IPL 2026 auction buys

  • Past IPL record: Cameron Green has been a proven performer in the IPL. After powering Mumbai Indians to the playoffs in 2023, Green showcased his all-round exploits for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament. Overall, he has hammered 707 runs at an average of 41.59 and a blistering strike rate of 153.70.
  • All-round expertise and high demand: Cameron Green is a promising allrounder, and with Andre Russell retired, he's one of the most renowned multidimensional players entering the IPL auction list. His flexibility as a batter and ability to contribute with both bat and ball could prompt multiple IPL franchises to go after him, projecting him as one of the potential most expensive buys in the mini auction.

Venkatesh Iyer

Why Venkatesh Iyer can be one of the most expensive IPL 2026 auction buys

  • Domestic batter with experience and healthy numbers: It's worth mentioning that although Venkatesh Iyer flopped for Kolkata Knight Riders with the bat, he has healthy numbers in the IPL. Overall, the southpaw has amassed 1468 runs in the tournament at an average of 29.96 and a strike rate of 137.32. More importantly, he's a domestic batter in the IPL auction list who has also previously done well in the tournament.
  • Excellent numbers at 3: Venkatesh Iyer has been prolific at number three, scoring 562 runs at an average of 43.23 and a strike rate of 168.77. That is his best batting position; so, teams that need a genuine number three batter can break the bank to get Iyer.

  • Recent form and multidimensional skills: Liam Livingstone is a middle-order batter who can also chip in with a few handy overs of leg-spin bowling. After being released by RCB, Livingstone oozed stellar form for different franchises across T20 leagues, scoring 571 runs at an average of 51.9 and a blistering strike rate of 168.9 and picking 13 wickets in 16 outings.
  • Less competitors: Given that Glenn Maxwell has withdrawn from the IPL mini auction, Liam Livingstone won't have enough quality alternatives that the franchises can choose. So, the lack in the number of overseas spin-bowling allrounders in the auction could result in a lucrative deal for the English superstar.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Why Wanindu Hasaranga can be one of the most expensive IPL 2026 auction buys

  • Impressive performance in IPL 2025: Wanindu Hasaranga didn't live up to the expectations with the bat in the IPL 2025. However, he was a go-to man with the ball for Rajasthan Royals, scalping eleven wickets at a strike rate of 22. So, his all-round abilities and recent IPL performance could prompt the franchises to raise the paddle for the Sri Lankan cricketer.
  • Multidimensional option and reputation: Wanindu Hasaranga is one of the most established overseas players in the IPL auction list. He has already represented multiple IPL franchises across 37 matches. Apart from his reputation and IPL 2025 performance, Hasaranga's ability to chip in with handy cameos lower down the order and strike at crucial junctures could make him one of the most expensive buys among players with a base price of 2 crores.
