In a remarkable achievement, ace Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc went past Pakistan legend Wasim Akram on the list of most successful bowlers in the history of Test cricket. The veteran cricketer attained the phenomenal milestone in Australia’s ongoing Ashes Test against England at the Gabba, Brisbane.
Starc eclipses Wasim Akram on elite list
Mitchell Starc had an outstanding start to the second Ashes Test, as he dismissed Ben Duckett in the very first over. He further went on to castle Ollie Pope with a beauty, equalling Wasim Akram’s tally of 414 Test wickets.
Although Joe Root and Harry Brook consolidated the English innings with a valiant partnership, Starc came back to break the stand. He got rid of Brook in the first over of his new spell in the second session, thereby overtaking Akram to become most successful left-arm seamer in Test history.

Veteran fast bowler Mitchell Starc has showcased remarkable form in the ongoing Ashes series. The left-arm speedster was pivotal in Australia's landslide eight-wicket win in Perth, registering a memorable ten-wicket haul.
He sustained his purple patch in the pink ball Test as well, getting rid of Duckett in the very first over. While most of his teammates have struggled to get going, Starc has used his expertise and experience to perfection, emerging as a nightmare for the visitors.
Regarding the Brisbane Test, England were 182 for four, with Joe Root and Ben Stokes batting on 65* and 4*, respectively.
