Lucknow Super Giants made big headlines in the IPL 2025 auction by buying Rishabh Pant for a historic price of 27 Crores. The aim was to take the franchise in a new direction after the disappointment of the 2024 season. However, they have fallen way short of their target and have finished seventh on the points table, leaving their fans disappointed again.

The season though was not just about the downward slide, and there were many positives as well. Many different players stepped up for them this season, and among them are the ones who were struggling to keep their IPL career alive. Mitchell Marsh

Mitchell Marsh is a world-class batter, but his performances over the years in IPL have been quite indifferent. The injuries have also not helped his cause, and thus, there was not much interest in him during the auction. However, the Aussie turned things around drastically, and became the leading run-scorer for LSG this season with 627 runs in 13 innings.

Aiden Markram has also turned around things beautifully in IPL 2025. He is a highly rated cricketer, but consistency has not been his stronger suite, and this problem was about to haunt him in the 2025 mega auction. No franchise seemed interested after SRH released him, but LSG made a bold decision to buy the South African at a base price of 2 Crore, and the move worked wonders.

The Indian star went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction, and it was a big low for a player who has done well for the country. In the past, he has grabbed contract of 10.75 Crore, so going unsold in the auction would have hurt his ego.

The pacer though got a lifeline, as he came in as a replacement of Mohsin Khan. He made an impact straightaway, and was LSG's best pacer in the first half of the season. He picked wickets with the new ball and at the death, grabbing 13 wickets in 10 matches. Thus, Shardul has proven that ignoring him in the auction was a big mistake.
