The preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League are already in full swing as the trade window is open and several franchises are looking to make changes to their squad ahead of the next edition.

Not just the trade window, but teams would, for sure, have also started preparing for the 2026 mini-auction, where top talents will register to get a hands-on experience in the cash-studded league. Since the last mega-auction, several stars have rose to the scene and are set to register for the mini-auction for the first time. Thus, this article will look at the players who might register for the first time and might set the auction on fire.

1. Jamie Smith

Notably, Smith has never registered for IPL, and the right-handed batter is most likely to make himself available for the upcoming season. The 25-year-old made his bat talk in the ongoing Test series against India, where the youngster scored a century off 80 balls, which is the joint third-fastest century by an English batter in Test cricket. He achieved this milestone against India at Edgbaston on Friday, July 4, 2025.

Smith was on fire against India and brought out his aggressive side in Test cricket, which certainly would have caught the franchise owners' attention. Lets look at this stats across formats.

2. Sam Konstas

Another player who took the world by storm during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was Sam Konstas. The 19-year-old had a great debut, where he took on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and whacked the Indian bowling all across the park to score a fifty-plus score.

The range of shots in his stokeplay impressed the critics and Konstas followed it up with a fifty on his BBL debut, which eventually turned out to be the fasted in the history of Sydney Thunders (20 Balls).

Talking about the recent form, the right-handed batter is struggling for runs, but still is being touted to fetch a big chunk of money during IPL 2026 mini-auction because of his heroics against India.

3. Lhuan Dre Pretorius

Another teenager making a lot of noise these days is South Africa's Lhuan Dre Pretorius. The 19-year-old was roped in by RR as emergency replacement despite not registering for the auction. It was just an exception made by the IPL because of cross-border tensions.

However, the southpaw is set to put his name for the upcoming auction and is touted to end up as one of the most expensive buy in the mini-auction. Pretorious recently made his Test debut against Zimbabwe, where he scored a century and became the youngest South African to score one.

Meanwhile, Pretorius rose to fame after SA20 2025, where he was the tournament's leading run-getter with 397 runs in 12 matches.
