The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction is done and dusted and now the fans are eager for the next season to commence as we are only a couple of months away from the start of the 2025 season.

All the ten teams went hard in the auction and bought the best possible players as they aimed to strengthen their squad ahead of IPL 2025. There were some smart buys in the auction and some buys which made no sense.

However, there were 3 players who left their respective franchises and were acquired by other teams for hefty prices. In this piece, we look at 3 players who will be a key component for their franchises and why the upcoming season will be crucial for them.

3) Glenn Maxwell

Why Maxwell will be a key player in IPL 2025?

  • He has a lot to prove after an underwhelming season with the RCB team. Maxwell couldn't even score 100 runs in IPL 2024, and will be hungrier to prove his doubters wrong in the upcoming season for Punjab Kings.
  • Apart from his batting, Maxwell will also give Punjab quality 2-3 overs which will be beneficial, especially on spinning tracks. Plus, if he is on song with the bat, no one can stop him.

2) Harry Brook

Why Brook will be crucial for DC's chances

  • Again, just like Maxwell, he has a lot to prove after a disastrous 2023 season with SRH. Brook was trolled heavily for his performance, but he is a better player this time around. He has matured more and the flat surface of the Arun Jaitley Stadium will assist his batting.
  • After Pant's departure, DC need an explosive middle order batter and no better player to replace him than Brook. He can be explosive and can be the perfect fit for the number 4 spot, something which DC desperately needs.

1) Jos Buttler

Why Buttler will be key to GT's fortunes this season

  • Buttler provides Gujarat Titans the flexibility. He can open, he can bat at 3, he can also bat at number 4. Players with such flexibility are always a boon to any T20 side.
  • He is arguably one of the best foreign players to have played the league. Buttler has multiple IPL hundreds to his name and when on song, he is one of the most destructive batter to have played the game.
  • GT, after the departure of Hardik Pandya lacked a bit of experience, and Buttler will provide them that. He can also advice Shubman Gill on captaincy, which could be a great thing for the franchise.
