The highly-awaited Pakistan Tour of South Africa is all set to kick off from Tuesday, December 10. Pakistan and South Africa will begin the multi-format  series with three T20Is. The first game between the two nations is scheduled to take place at Kingsmead Durban at 9:30 PM IST.

The Pakistan side led by Mohammad Rizwan, features numerous inclusions and exclusions for the series. The batting line-up is bolstered by Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha along with a strong list of bowlers featuring Abrar Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and more.

Out of these however, it is Shaheen Afridi, who holds key to Pakistan's success in the shortest format of the game. As the two teams prepare to lock horns, let us take a close look at the T20I records of Pakistan's 'Eagle' Shaheen Shah Afridi against South Africa:

Shaheen Afridi's T20I statistics against South Africa are average; however, are somewhat mixed. In 10 T20I innings against South Africa, at home, away and neutral venues, Afridi has taken ten wickets at an average of 28.00.

His strike rate of 22.20 indicates that he scalps wickets at a relatively modest pace, though it could be more exceptional for a fast bowler in the shortest format. His economy rate of 7.57 suggests he is effective in restricting runs, but it could be improved, particularly considering his role as a strike fast bowler.

Breaking down his record by venue, Afridi has fared slightly better outside home against the Proteas. He has taken five wickets in six innings at an average of 36.60 with a marginally higher economy of 7.95. His record at home has been terrible, with an average of 41.50; however, his economy was marginally more effective on the home turf.

One of Afridi's standout qualities is his ability to take wickets in different match situations. Still, his overall T20I record against South Africa suggests he has room for improvement, especially in tightening his economy and maintaining consistency. His numbers suggest promise, but he is yet show his dominance against this opponent.
