AFG vs ZIM: What Happened When They Last Played A T20I?
The last time Afghanistan and Zimbabwe met each other was back in 2022 in the third T20I at the Harare Sports Club. The match kicked off with Afghanistan winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Hazratullah Zazai couldn’t make a big impact, falling early to Tendai Chatara after scoring 12 runs. Despite losing wickets in quick succession, Afghanistan managed to keep the scoreboard ticking. Mohammad Nabi led the charge, scoring 31 runs off 30 balls, helping the team set a target of 126 runs in their 20 overs.
In response, Zimbabwe’s batting lineup struggled from the start. Their top order failed to get going, with none of them scoring more than 15 runs. Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad stole the show with a brilliant bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for just 10 runs at an exceptional economy rate of 2.50.
Zimbabwe were eventually restricted to 90/9 in their 20 overs, falling short by 35 runs. With this victory, Afghanistan sealed the series with a commanding 3-0 margin.
