The Anderson-Tendulkar Test series is done and dusted, and now the caravan shifts towards the all-important Asia Cup, which is set to commence next month. India has yet to reveal its squad for the marquee event, but speculation has already begun on which players will be included.

Most of the players have already been selected, and only a few spots remain in the squad. The Anderson-Tendulkar series had some brilliant Indian cricketers, but here are 3 players from that tour, who might not find a place in the Asia Cup squad.

1) Shubman Gill

As per reports, the Indian selectors are divided over the selection of Shubman Gill in the Asia Cup squad. As per Telegraph, one half of the selection panel wants the Test captain in the squad, while the other half is against his inclusion, as they feel it might disrupt the team tempo. Plus, his T20I stats are not that impressive as compared to other opening options.

As compared to the other three openers, Gill's T20I stats is not that good. While the others strike at over 160, Gill's T20I strike rate is just 139.23.

Under Gautam Gambhir's regime, the India T20I team is looking for an attacking opening option, and Gill doesn't have the gear to go for the big shots, right from the word go.

2) Sai Sudharsan

Another Test star who did extremely well in the Indian Premier League, Sai Sudharsan, also has an outside chance to make it into the Asia Cup squad, but just like Gill, his inclusion will also bring the same issue. Sudharsan is a proper opener, and with Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, and potentially Yashasvi Jaiswal included, India already has three options at that spot.

The Tamil Nadu player was outstanding in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, but all of his runs came at the opening spot, and right now, Team India cannot afford to give him that place.

3) Jasprit Bumrah

On any given day, Jasprit Bumrah is a guaranteed starter in the India T20I team, but his recent workload management has created doubts in the selectors' minds, and probably, Bumrah could be rested for the marquee event.

These are some of the major injuries Bumrah has suffered in the last few years, and the team management are taking proper precaution. They do not want their best bowler to pick up an injury again, and with the T20 World Cup next year, the ace pacer might be rested for the Asia Cup.
