The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 is around the corner. While the tournament continues to be a breeding ground for local talent, it’s also increasingly becoming a haven for experienced international stars.

Since PSL is clashing with IPL this year, many foreign players are unavailable for PSL due to prior commitments with the Indian Premier League. However, there are some superstars who once dazzled in the IPL but went unsold this year.

Those crickets have found a new home in PSL and on that note here are 5 former IPL players who could turn heads in PSL 2025 edition.

1. David Warner - Karachi Kings

After officially parting ways with the IPL in 2024, Australian opener David Warner will explore the PSL this year as a fresh opportunity. Warner’s T20 credentials need no introduction, over 6500 runs in the format and has a legacy as one of IPL’s most successful overseas batters.

He was picked by Karachi Kings for PSL 2025 and has been handed over the captaincy reigns as well. Warner brings not just explosive starts at the top but also leadership experience. His aggression and energy could revitalise Kings this year.

2. Daryl Mitchell - Lahore Qalandars

New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell had an underwhelming IPL stint. In two seasons in 2022 and 2024, he scored 351 runs with a 27.00 average and 131.46 strike rate. However, after going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, Mitchell has been signed by Lahore Qalandars.

With the ability to bat in multiple positions and offer medium pace with the ball, Mitchell is a dream pick for Shaheen Afridi’s side who needs a shake-up after a horrendous PSL 2024 campaign, finishing at the bottom with just 1 win in 10 games.

3. David Willey - Multan Sultans

David Willey may have flown under the radar in the IPL, but his skill set remains ideal for T20 cricket. In two seasons with RCB, Willey picked up 4 wickets in 8 games. However, this year, he will join PSL 2025 after getting picked by Multan Sultans. A left-arm seamer who swings the new ball and a handy lower-order hitter, Willey adds tactical variety to Mohammad Rizwan’s side.

4. Alzarri Joseph - Peshawar Zalmi

Alzarri Joseph has played 22 games in IPL and picked up 21 wickets. Last year, he played for RCB, but in the IPL 2025 mega auction, he went unsold. Subsequently, he entered the PSL 2025 draft where Babar Azam’s Peshawar Zalmi secured his services.

The fast tracks in Pakistan may complement Joseph’s style perfectly, and with the right support, he could emerge as a lethal weapon in Zalmi’s bowling unit.

5. Rilee Rossouw - Quetta Gladiators

When it comes to consistent overseas performers in the PSL, Rilee Rossouw’s name shines bright. He was leading Quetta Gladiators until last season but in 2025, he will be playing as a specialist batter as Saud Shakeel has taken over the leadership role.

In the IPL, Rossouw previously played for RCB, DC and PBKS. In 22 games, he scored 473 runs with 23.65 average. That being said, for Gladiators, his aggressive approach and fearless middle-order hitting make him the kind of player they desperately want in crunch situations.
