The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season buzz has already started, and all ten teams are fighting it hard to secure signings ahead of the next season. While the focus is on quality Indian batters and household overseas players, one shouldn't forget about underrated gems who can strengthen any IPL side.

One such name is Australian all-rounder, Cameron Green. The swashbuckling batter slammed back-to-back fifties in the ongoing T20I series against the West Indies, and played a pivotal role in securing two wins in a row for his side. So far in IPL, Green has represented Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but was released by RCB due to a recurring back issue.

He is once again in hot demand, and franchises could run after him in the upcoming IPL mini auction. Here is a list of IPL teams which could target Cameron Green.

1) Chennai Super Kings

What Green will bring to the table for MSD's team?

Will solve the number 3 issue: With Ruturaj Gaikwad returning for CSK next season, he is most likely to bat at the top alongside their rising superstar, Ayush Mhatre. Gaikwad batted at number 3 for CSK, last season, but that left a void at the top. Hence, he is most likely to open the batting, which opens up the vacant number 3 spot.

Shivam Dube, or Dewald Brevis, can bat at number 4, and CSK could utilise Cam Green at 3. He is most effective when he comes on to bat, either at the opening slot or at number 3, as witnessed during his Mumbai Indian days.

High-strike rate in IPL: Last season, CSK's biggest issue was the strike rate of their batters, which led to numerous heartbreaking losses. However, the arrival of Green could change things for them. He strikes at 153 in the IPL, and CSK will get an aggressive batter at 3, who could turn the tides in the blink of an eye.

2) Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Why a reunion is still possible

RCB never wanted to let him leave: Interestingly, RCB never wanted to let go off Cameron Green during the mega auction last year. However, he had a serious back injury, and the franchise had no option but to release him. Green was outstanding for the Royal Challengers during his maiden stint with them, and is still adored by the fans in Bengaluru.

In 13 matches in 2024, he took 10 wickets, and scored 255 runs, as RCB reached the playoffs.

RCB need a solid number 3: For the majority of the IPL 2025 season, Devdutt Padikkal batted at number 3, and while he did moderately well at the given position, he never looked like taking the game away from the opposition. This is the ability which Green has with the bat. In the blink of an eye, he could snatch the match away, and with Virat Kohli (not so aggressive, and Padikkal to follow), RCB cannot afford to have two players who play at similar strike-rates.

3) Rajasthan Royals

Perfect team for Green?

Perfect Samson replacement: There are rumours that Sanju Samson, the RR skipper, is likely to leave to join CSK. Last season, he batted at number 3, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, a teenage sensation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the top. Hence, if Samson leaves, the number 3 spot will be vacant, and Green can fill in that spot perfectly. Just like Samson, he could be the chief aggressor, and RR can form an aggressive batting trio of Suryavanshi, Jaiswal, and Green.

Can chip in with ball as well: Not only with the bat, Green can also be a utility with the ball. He can easily clock 135-140 km/h, and RR need that X-factor with the ball, which they missed last season. In 2025, they had Wasnindu Hasaranga as their all-round option. Green will be an upgrade over him.
