IPL 2025 will kickstart on March 22 with defending champions KKR taking on RCB at the Eden Gardens stadium. However, the fans are also eagerly waiting for the 'El Classico' as Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings on March 23 at the Chepauk Stadium.
MI and CSK are the two most successful teams in IPL history, and the two teams locking horns against each other would be a blockbuster event. However, ahead of the much-awaited clash, Mumbai Indians are sweating hard over players' fitness as they will miss Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah in their opening match.
With no Bumrah for nearly the first three matches, Mumbai's bowling attack has gone for a toss. Thus, ahead of MI's season, lets rate the Indians' bowling attack.
Rating Mumbai Indians' Pace Attack
For Mumbai, in the pace attack, they have Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Reece Topley, and Arjun Tendulkar. As a back-up, they also have Corbin Bosch who will bowl four overs of pace. Thus, lets look at the stats of these four pacers as Reece Topley is currently injured and most likely to be ruled out of IPL. Further, the list also include Hardik Pandya as he is an all-rounder and would be bowling four overs.

Rating - 8/10
The Trio of Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Jasprit Bumrah is in itself is a 10/10. These three are a blessing for any side and the stats reflect that. However, injury concern is an issue. Now since Bumrah is out of first three matches and Chahar, being injury prone, MI lack bowling depth.
Other than the experienced three bowlers, MI have Reece Topley and Arjun Tendulkar, as proper seamers who are inexperienced and fail to bowl upto IPL standards. Tendulkar has played just five matches and his records aren't something to boast about. Hardik would then be mounted with too much of pressure on his shoulders.
Thus, the seamer attack of Mumbai deserves a 8/10 despite their injury concerns.
Rating Mumbai Indians' Spin Attack
In the spin attack, MI have roped in Mitchell Santner for the upcoming season and also have Karn Sharma, and Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Thus, lets look at their stats in IPL.

Rating MI's Spin - 6.5/10
If we look at Mumbai Indians' spin attack, then they lack the depth. Firstly, Mujeeb is unlikely to get game time as Santner would be ahead of him in the pecking order. Thus, Santner and Karn Sharma are likely to make it to the playing XI.
The negative for the Indians is that the spinners lack variation. MI lack a quality mystery spinner that almost every team have now in their squad. Further, looking at Santner and Sharma's stats, then they have a almost wicket-a-match ratio.
However, the positive is that Santner is a very clever bowler and bowls according to the situation. If we look at the economy stats of all three spinners, then it is too good. To range between 6-8 if considered to be great in T20 cricket.
Thus, the spin attack deserves a 6.5/10 rating for IPL 2025.
Conclusion
If we look at the pace and spin attack for Mumbai Indians, then their overall rating would be 7.5/10. They have a few injury concerns and lack the depth in the bench when it comes to bowling. However, the strong presence of international players and too with stature like Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah can't be ignored.
Thus, MI have a strong bowling attack and deserve a bowling rating of 7.5/10.
