Sri Lanka are set to face the West Indies in the third and final ODI at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on October 26. Leading the series 2-0, Lankans have shown strong form and will be looking for a clean sweep in this final match. In their previous encounter, they secured a solid five-wicket victory with 34 balls remaining.

However, for this final game, the team, led by Charith Asalanka, might consider a change in their playing XI. Pathum Nissanka, who missed the first two ODIs due to a quadriceps strain suffered during the T20I series, could be making a comeback if he’s fit. Considering the fact that Nissanka is one of Sri Lanka’s top choices as an opener, his return to lineup would give Sri Lanka a major boost, particularly when Avishka Fernando, his primary back-up, has been struggling to find his form.

Fernando's Poor Form Continues

It is important to note that Fernando has only managed 14 runs across both innings, falling for single digits each time. His poor numbers have made him a possible candidate to be sidelined if Nissanka is declared fit.

On the other hand, Nishan Madushka has been in excellent form and is unlikely to be rested. He has been consistently contributing with his bat where he scored 107 runs over the two matches. With impressive numbers, he made sure to solidify his spot in the opening spot.

Barring this change, the rest of Sri Lanka’s probable XI is expected to stay the same for this final clash against the West Indies.
