New Zealand’s rising star, Rachin Ravindra, has been in terrific form lately. But during the second Test match against India at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, his impact was short-lived, leaving fans disappointed.

New Zealand began their second innings confidently, especially after bowling India out for a modest 156 in 45.3 overs, securing a 103-run lead. The start, however, was shaky, with opener Devon Conway departing for 17 off 25 balls. Not long after, Ravichandran Ashwin took down Will Young, who managed 23 runs.

Rachin Ravindra stepped in next, bringing a wave of hope for New Zealand supporters. Given his recent batting form, they anticipated he would stabilize the innings. But Washington Sundar had other plans, eyeing Ravindra as his next target after removing Conway.

In the 22nd over, Sundar delivered a beautifully executed ball that proved too tricky for Ravindra. It was a good-length delivery, straight on the off-stump, which Sundar cleverly bowled as an arm ball. This delivery didn’t turn and skidded low, surprising Ravindra, who went for the cut shot too early. The ball slid under his bat, striking the off-stump and sending Ravindra back to the pavilion.

India Crumble To 156 In First Innings

Earlier in the match, India’s first innings crumbled to 156, with Mitchell Santner proving destructive for the Indian batting lineup. He dismissed top players like Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, ending with career-best figures of 7 for 53 runs.

As of now, New Zealand hold a 227-run lead, keeping India on the back foot as the game progresses.
