West Indies earned a massive victory against Uganda in the 18th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. The co-hosts of the tournament bundled out the winners of the African qualifiers for the joint lowest total in the history of the tournament and won the match by a massive margin of 134 runs.

The home team started of by winning the toss and deciding to bat first. It was not a completely dominating show with the bat by the West Indian batters as they struggled a bit in the initial stages to get off the blocks. However, Andre Russell played a cameo at the end of the innings and helped the team reach a respectable total of 173/5 in their 20 overs.

It was going to be a tough for the Ugandan team to challenge the West Indies total. Things turned out to exactly the way Powell and the Caribbean team management might have planned for.

The trump card of the West Indian bowling line-up, Akeal Hosein picked up a wicket in the first over and started the on and off march of the Ugandan batter. Hosein bowled a brilliant spell of 5/11 in his four overs and recorded the best bowling figures by a West Indian bowler in T20 World Cups.
