The co-hosts of the T20 World Cup 2024 are playing against Uganda in the 18th match of the tournament. This match is being played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

West Indies won the toss ahead of the game and opted to bat first. The two openers Brandon King and Johnson Charles got the team off to a good start. They were marching smoothly and the two batters were looking well settled at the crease.

The parnership had worked 35 runs in the first four overs, when Brian Masaba opted to go back to his prime left-arm orthodox spinner, Alpesh Ramjani. The Indian descent spinner is one of the prime stays of the Ugandan bowling and he showled exactly why.  He set up Brandon King in the first two deliveries of the fifth over and then dealt the final blow on third delivery.

Ramjani bowled a quicker length delivery at the middle stump line. King tried to work the ball to the onside but was cramped for room.  He did not make any connection and the ball deflected off his pads onto the stumps. That marked the end of the stay for King in the middle. It was an important wicket for the Ugandan team, they need to pick up wickets at regular internvals to keep the West Indian powerhouse down to something which is manageable for them.
