Axar Patel is a man of loyalties. He’s among the most capped players of the two Indian Premier League franchises he’s represented till now. As a result, unsurprisingly, after having played 150 matches across a decade, he’s a day away from beginning his career as a full-time IPL captain.

Patel, 31, is also at the peak of his career. Trusted to bail the team out in tough situations in international cricket nowadays, Patel is expected to create similar impact for Delhi Capitals tomorrow onwards. Assuming he’s able to do the same, a few personal milestones which he will achieve are:

First DC Player To Grab 50 Catches

Among specialist fielders, Patel has already grabbed the most catches for Delhi. Currently at 47, he needs to grab just three more catches to become the first player from the franchise with 50 catches. Overall, only nine players across three teams namely Chennai Super Kings (4), Mumbai Indians (3) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (2) have caught 50 times for one team.


2. 1,000 Runs For DC

The left-handed batter needs just 33 more runs to complete 1,000 runs for Capitals in the IPL. In doing so, Patel will become the 10th player achieve the feat. As of now, his 967 runs have come at an average of 23.58 and a strike rate of 134.11 including three half-centuries. Expected to shoulder more responsibility as a captain, Patel could also score 300+ runs in an IPL season for the first time in his career.

3. 50 Sixes For DC

Currently, the southpaw has hit 47 sixes across 62 innings. Equal with former DC opener Shikhar Dhawan, Patel will become the sixth batter to hit 50 IPL sixes for the franchise.

4. 150 Sixes In T20s

In his 12-year career, Patel has hit 142 sixes across 198 innings for Gujarat, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), India and Capitals. Eight more sixes will see him completing 150 sixes.


5. 200 Fours In T20s Played In India

208 out of Patel’s 274 T20s have come in India. Similarly, 188 out of his 214 fours have come in his home country. Patel needs 12 more fours to hit 200 boundaries along the ground in the country.

6. 200 Fours In T20s Played In Asia

If Patel is able to achieve the aforementioned personal feat, he will also be able to hit 200 fours in Asia. As of now, 196 fours across 176 innings.
