Delhi Capitals (DC) have begun their preparations for the IPL 2025 season and captain Axar Patel has also joined the camp. He arrived at a recent net session and met his teammates as captain for the first time.
The IPL 2025 season is about to begin in a few days and the DC squad has assembled to kick-start their preparations. This year, Delhi will have a new captain in all-rounder Axar Patel.
Despite KL Rahul being the front-runner, Axar was chosen as the ideal leadership candidate since Raul reportedly turned down the captaincy role.
Axar Patel Takes Over As DC Captain
Delhi Capitals' newly appointed captain, Axar Patel, officially kicked off the franchise’s IPL 2025 campaign as he met his teammates and support staff for the first time in the pre-season camp.
Taking over the reins from Rishabh Pant, Axar was welcomed with enthusiasm as he geared up to lead DC in their quest for a maiden IPL title.
The atmosphere at the training camp was filled with energy as players, both retained and newly signed, joined the session. Axar spent time meeting each squad member personally and conducting casual interactions.
The Delhi Capitals management, including head coach Hemang Badani, stood by Axar as he stepped into his leadership role.
KL Rahul Wishes Axar Patel After DC Captaincy Announcement
Indian cricketer KL Rahul has extended his heartfelt wishes to Axar Patel, who was recently appointed as the Delhi Capitals captain for the upcoming IPL 2025 season.
Shortly after Delhi Capitals officially confirmed Axar Patel as their new skipper, Rahul took to Instagram to congratulate his DC teammate and said, “Congrats Bapu. Wishing you the best in this journey and always with you.”
Interestingly, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant swapped IPL teams ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, with Rahul joining DC and Pant moving to LSG. Reports suggest that Rahul was also in contention for the Delhi Capitals’ captaincy role but pulled himself out of the race, paving the way for Axar Patel to take charge.
