Delhi Capitals will kickstart their IPL 2025 campaign on March 24 when they take on Lucknow Super Giants. A lot has changed for the Capitals since last year, as it is a totally new-looking side from last season. 

Axar Patel To Lead Delhi Capitals

The management has undergone a complete overhaul, while the squad is fresh as well. Further, there is a change in leadership as Axar Patel has been appointed the new captain after Rishabh Pant went to LSG in the auction. 

It is worth noting that Axar has played just a solitary match in IPL as captain and that too ended up in a losing occasion. However, he has experience leading his state in domestic cricket. Thus, this article will shed light on Axar Patel's captaincy record ahead of DC's campaign in IPL 2025.

Axar Patel's Captaincy Records

He has led DC in just one match that too in 2024, but ended up on the losing end. However, it shouldn't disappoint DC fans as Axar has led his state Gujarat in several matches in domestic matches.

It is worth noting that Axar has led Gujarat in 2 FC, 5 List A games and 16 T20 matches. Out of the 23 matches, he has played as captain for Gujarat, Axar tasted success in 12 matches and had to accept defeat 11 matches. 

Axar Patel's Captaincy Records For Gujarat

Looking at the stats, then Patel has a poor captaincy record when in comes to List A record. He only has a win percentage of 28.57. While, it may be a concerning stat for DC fans, but Patel has done well in T20s for Gujarat.

If we look at the stats in T20s, then he enjoys a great win percentage of 62.5% with 10 wins in 16 matches he has led Gujarat. If we look at the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, then Gujarat finished third in their group where they won six of their matches in seven games under Patel's captaincy.
