The focus is now on the Asia Cup 2025 as the prestigious continental cup will commence from September 9 in the UAE. Eyes are on the selectors as the Ajit Agarkar-led committee is set to announce the squad in the third week of August.
Several spots are up for grabs, while a few players, including the skipper Suryakumar Yadav himself, are recovering from a sports hernia. Talking about SKY, there was a positive development that the right-handed batter is on the right path to recovery and will be fit in time for the tournament.
SKY Travels To Japan
However, in the latest events, Rohit Juglan from Revsportz took to Twitter, where he stated that the fans should expect some last-minute changes in the squad and added that Suryakumar Yadav, too, has travelled to Japan for a couple of days.
Juglan didn't reveal the exact reason for SKY's Japan visit, but the fans are fearing another injury setback that might put Asia Cup participation in danger.
SKY recently also posted photos of him practicising in the nets at the NCA in Bengaluru and reports were that the India captain will be declared fit within a week.
Shubman Gill Likely To Be SKY's Deputy For Asia Cup 2025
In the latest events, the reports around the Asia Cup squad are that Shubman Gill is most likely to return to the T20I set-up and will be appointed India's vice-captain for the prestigious event.
Further, Sanju Samson's spot is also not guaranteed as the RR captain faces tough competition from Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma, who were on fire during IPL 2025.
Things are not looking good for India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, as Gill's inclusion in the team will make it tough for Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan to get a place.
