Axar Patel currently plays for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as of 2025. He was appointed as the team's captain ahead of the 2025 season, succeeding Rishabh Pant, who transferred to the Lucknow Super Giants. 

Axar Patel made his debut in 2014. He started his IPL journey with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2013 but did not get a game that season. 

The following year, he was signed by Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). He played for Punjab from 2014 to 2018.
