Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) newest recruit, Jitesh Sharma, has set his sights on a special goal for IPL 2025, winning the elusive title for Virat Kohli. Jitesh opined that Kohli deserves to lift the IPL trophy at least once in his legendary career as he has given everything to RCB.
RCB, one of the most followed teams in the IPL, has been deprived of an IPL trophy since the inception of the league.
Despite having some of the biggest names in the lineup, including Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, the franchise failed to cross the finish line. However, this year, their newest recruit is on a mission to accomplish the unfinished business.
RCB’s Jitesh Sharma Motivated To Reward Virat Kohli With IPL Trophy
Despite a legendary international career that includes an ODI World Cup (2011), two Champions Trophies (2013 & 2025), and a T20 World Cup (2024), IPL glory has remained out of reach for Virat Kohli. Kohli has carried RCB on his shoulders for years without getting his hands on the trophy.
However, Jitesh Sharma is now determined to change that. He believes 2025 could finally be RCB’s year, and he wants to contribute in any way possible to help King Kohli finally lift the long-awaited IPL trophy.
In a chat with CricXtasy, Jitesh revealed that his biggest motivation this season is to help Kohli achieve his long-standing dream.
“From both a human and cricketer’s perspective, a player who has played for one franchise for so many years deserves at least one trophy. I will pray that this time, everything aligns for him. Maybe God had different plans before, but I really want him to lift the RCB trophy once, with me," Jitesh said.
RCB will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22 at Eden Gardens.
Kohli Denied RCB Captaincy For IPL 2025, Says Jitesh Sharma
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) put an end to all captaincy speculations ahead of IPL 2025 by appointing Rajat Patidar as the new skipper. RCB’s newest recruit, Jitesh Sharma has revealed that Kohli himself was not interested in returning as captain.
When asked about the reason behind Kohli’s decision, Jitesh admitted that he wasn’t entirely sure but felt that Kohli’s lack of captaincy in the past few years made it clear that the role was behind him.
