Yograj Singh has never been one to hold back and this time, it’s Arjun Tendulkar who’s in the limelight. The former India cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh believes that Sachin’s son isn’t being used to his full potential and his true spark lies not with the ball but with the bat.

Yograj Singh Believes Yuvraj’s Mentorship Can Transform Arjun Tendulkar

Yograj’s words have set the cricket world buzzing as he boldly claimed that if Yuvraj Singh mentors Arjun for just three months, the youngster could blossom into “the next Chris Gayle.”

Arjun Tendulkar, who is yet to play a match in IPL 2025, has had a bumpy ride so far. After going unsold in the initial round of the mega auction, Mumbai Indians brought him back for INR 30 lakh in the second round. But since then, he has been mostly warming the bench.

Yograj thinks it's time to change it. According to him, Arjun Tendulkar's batting is the real goldmine, not his left-arm pace.

“With regards to Arjun, I said, focus less on his bowling and more on his batting. If Yuvraj takes Sachin’s son under his wings for three months, I bet he will become the next Chris Gayle.”

That’s a bold bet but coming from Yograj, who is known for unfiltered takes and a keen eye for talent, it’s not one to ignore.

A Brief But Promising Stint With Yograj

Yograj Singh revealed that Arjun trained under him two years ago when he moved from Mumbai to play for Goa in the Ranji Trophy. The results were instant as Arjun slammed a century on debut. While the training didn’t last long, Yograj saw enough to believe the boy had what it takes.

Arjun’s numbers with Goa and in the Vijay Hazare Trophy have shown glimpses of promise, including a five-wicket haul against Arunachal. But consistency and injury have been big hurdles, especially with a recurring stress fracture plaguing his progress.

Yuvraj’s Silent Hand In Shaping Future Stars

Yuvraj Singh, though out of the limelight, has played a quiet but powerful role in shaping young talents. Players like Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have credited Yuvi’s mentorship as game-changing in their careers. Now, Yograj feels it's Arjun’s turn.

While the Mumbai Indians' bench remains his home for now, Arjun Tendulkar’s journey is far from over. A shift in focus to his batting along with with mentorship from someone like Yuvraj, might just be the reset button his career needs.
