Virender Sehwag doesn't mince words and this time, Ishan Kishan was in the firing line. The former India opener was left scratching his head after Kishan walked off the field in the most bizarre fashion during the IPL 2025 clash between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

No appeal. No umpire’s decision. No edge. But Kishan still took the long walk back. Sehwag didn’t hold back, calling it a complete brain fade and slamming the MI star for what he called “confused honesty.”

Sehwag Fumes At Kishan's "Over-Honesty"

The drama unfolded during the first ball of the third over in Hyderabad’s innings. Kishan, trying to glance a leg-side delivery from Deepak Chahar, missed the ball completely. There was no appeal, no indication from the umpire and yet Kishan just walked off.

The replays confirmed it loud and clear: no bat, no pad, no edge, nothing. It wasn’t even close. The umpire was caught just as off guard as everyone else.

Reacting on Cricbuzz, Sehwag pulled no punches:

“Many times, the mind fails to work at that moment. It was brain fade. Stop at least and wait for the umpire to make his decision. The umpire is also charging some amount of money for his job.”

He didn’t stop there. Virender Sehwag added:

“I could not understand this honesty. Had it been an edge, it would have been understandable because that would be in the spirit of the game. But it was neither out; the umpire was unsure and you started walking off all of a sudden.”

Kishan’s Form Going Downhill After Bright Start

After a blazing century in the opening match of the season, Ishan Kishan’s form has hit rock bottom. His premature exit for just 1 run only added to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s misery, as they slipped to their sixth loss in eight games, sitting second-last on the points table.

From booming sixes to baffling decisions, Kishan's season has taken a sharp turn and this walk-off might just be the low point.

Sunrisers Hyderabad now head to Chennai, where they will face MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings on April 25. With the season slipping away fast, the team will be desperate to regroup and Kishan will need to clear his head and reset.
