'You Feel Little Frustrated' - Rohit On His Angry Reaction At Gill After Run Out

Indian cricket team's skipper Rohit Sharma was a happy man as he acknowledged the bowling unit's unwavering efforts in a thumping win over Afghanistan whilst battling tough conditions in Mohali.

India successfully defeated Afghanistan in the first T20 of the three-game series by six wickets. Shivam Dube's heroic knock of 60 off 40 deliveries helped India chase down the total with two overs to spare.

However, the bowling unit's resilience against tough conditions is what moved skipper Rohit Sharma. During the post-match presentation, Sharma reckoned that the conditions were extreme. His fingers went numb at times during fielding as Mohali's temperature dropped to 9° Celsius during the first innings.

"It was extremely cold out there. Now I am okay. When the ball hits the tip of the finger it is sore but when it hit me first I wasn't able to feel my finger that's why I went in to find the hot bag. In the end it was good," said Rohit Sharma during post game presentation.

But at the end of the day, the bowlers did a fantastic job, feels Sharma. Rohit added that conditions were tough, but the spinners, as well as the seamers, bowled brilliantly in the right areas to restrict a dangerous Afghanistan side to a below-par total. Even Afghani captain Ibrahim Zadran admitted that his side was 30-40 runs short in the first innings.

"Lot of positives. We got a lot from this game especially with the ball. Wasn't the easiest of conditions but spinners bowled well and the seamers also did the job for us," he added.

Having said that, Rohit Sharma also addressed his unlucky dismissal. The captain confirmed that all was well between him and Gill, and his outburst happened in the heat of the moment. He just wanted to score runs for his team and was frustrated to lose his wicket in an uncanny fashion.

That being said, Rohit Sharma also mentioned Jitesh Sharma and Rinku Singh's short cameo at the end, which helped immensely in the chase.

"These things happen. When it happens you feel little frustrated, you want to be out there and score runs for the team but everything will not go your way. Sometimes you've got to understand that but we won the game that was more important than that. Wanted Gill to carry on he played a little innings and got out. Shivam Dube, the way Jitesh batted. Tilak as well and Rinku is in good form as well," Sharma said.

Meanwhile, Rohit revealed that he wants to explore and try different things in the field. He does not want to end up in a situation where conditions, toss, or other factors come into play. The message in the dressing room is clear: play your best game and stay aware of your surroundings.

"We just want to try different things. Try and bowl our bowlers in different situations of the game like today Washi bowled the 19th over. We want to challenge ourselves in the areas we are slightly uncomfortable with and the bowlers are not used to that so we want to try and do that as well. We will try and do whatever is possible. Like I said at the toss, not at the cost of the game. We want to make sure we come out on top and play the game well and on the other side we will keep an eye on what else we can do. All in all today was a good day for us," Rohit concluded.

But overall, Rohit Sharma walked off with a big smile on his face. India are 1-0 in the three-game series, and play will resume on Sunday at Indore.
