Rohit Sharma once again showcased his quirky and witty banter on the field during Day 2 of the Third Test between India and England. The match, held at Rajkot, saw India bowling in the sweltering hot summer conditions during the third session of the day.

Wickets were hard to come by as England batted in a "BazBall" style, aiming to reduce the deficit in the first innings. Amidst this, Ravindra Jadeja found himself guilty of bowling multiple no-balls. Opening up his humorous side, Rohit Sharma said to the left-arm all-rounder:

“Yaar Jadeja IPL Mein toh itna no-balls nahi daalta, yahan bhi T20 samajhke bowling kar”

(Dear Jadeja, you don’t bowl so many no-balls in the IPL. Think this game as T20 as well and bowl)

On Day 2, Ravindra Jadeja was only given four overs to bowl, with Mohammad Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Jasprit Bumrah handling the majority of the bowling workload.

During his brief spell, Jadeja seemed to be off his usual form, failing to trouble the opposition batsmen. He conceded 33 runs at an economy rate of 8.25 runs per over. Additionally, he gave away two extras in consecutive deliveries, which prompted Rohit Sharma to reveal his quirky side.

What happened on Day 2 at Rajkot?

Continuing their innings from 326 for the loss of five wickets on Day 1, India faced early setbacks as overnight batsmen Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav were dismissed early on Day 2, with Jadeja departing after scoring 112 runs. With the team struggling at 331 for 7 wickets, the situation looked bleak.

However, debutant Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin combined effectively, forging a crucial 77-run partnership for the eighth wicket, pushing the team's total past the 400-run mark. Jasprit Bumrah also contributed with the bat, helping India post a total of 445 runs.

England started the game with an aggressive approach, scoring at a brisk pace and posting 207 runs for the loss of two wickets in just 35 overs. Ben Duckett notably achieved the feat of scoring the second quickest century by an English player, while Pope and Crawley provided support by building partnerships with him.

Both England and India will eagerly anticipate Day 3, with the pitch providing opportunities for both batsmen and bowlers. India will aim to build a significant lead, while England will be determined to chase down the formidable total of 445 runs posted by the home side at Rajkot.
