Australia and domination go hand in hand as they have successfully retained the Ashes 2025-26 with a thrilling win in Adelaide. Crushing their arch rivals with outstanding performances, the Aussies took the lead of the series by a 3-0 margin.

Even before the Ashes started, Stuart Broad didn’t hold back, calling them the ‘worst Australian team since 2010-11’. After retaining the iconic urn, Marnus Labuschagne gave him a sharp reply.

Over the years, the historic Ashes have delivered unreal red-ball drama, but the nerve-wracking rivalry between England and Australia has taken this up to a different level. As the series approached, excitement began simmering, and this season proved no different. Even before a ball was bowled in the 2025-26 Ashes, the rivalry had already ignited off the field.

After Australia announced its Ashes squad, former England bowler Stuart Broad said, “worst Australian team since 2010-11.” The massive remark didn’t sit well with the Aussies, but they opted to deliver the perfect reply to this remark with their exceptional performance.

On their home turf, Australia showed what true domination looks like, crushing their arch-rivals. After winning in Perth and Gabba, they successfully retained the Ashes urn after a thrilling victory in Adelaide. After securing the title, Marnus Labuschagne hit back sharply at Broad’s claim.

“Being called the worst Australian team in 15 years ... it's nice to be sitting where we are now three-nil up,” Marnus said.

Red-ball rulers Australia take 3-0 command

Over the years, the cricket world enjoyed the fiery encounter between Australia and England. But in the last few editions, the fierce competition is missing as the Aussies dominated, fading the English excellence away. The ongoing edition became another reason behind England’s disappointment.

After facing defeats in Perth and Gabba, Ben Stokes and Co. stepped into Adelaide with hope, but reality hit them with a nightmare. Batting first, Australia put on a total of 372 runs, with Alec Carey’s ton and Usman Khawaja’s spectacular innings, and the rivals ended their last innings in 286 runs.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Travis Head set the stage on fire with an outstanding innings of 170 runs in 219 balls, deepening the opponent’s woes. Chasing a big total in the last innings, England faced Australia’s bowling fury. Starc, Cummins, and Lyon tore through the lineup, restricting the visitors to 352 and handing them an 82-run defeat. With that, Australia successfully retained the Ashes.
