Cricket fans may be heading towards another sensitive moment as India and Pakistan are playing against each other in the final of the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai on December 21, 2025. The focus is not only on the high-voltage match but also on the presence of Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Mohsin Naqvi likely to attend PAK vs IND U19 Asia Cup Final

According to Pakistan media reports (Geo News), Naqvi is scheduled to travel to Dubai to watch the U19 Asia Cup final live. He is also expected to attend the closing ceremony and will likely present the trophy to the winning team.

However, his involvement has sparked debate because of what happened earlier this year during the senior men’s Asia Cup final.

In September 2025, Naqvi was present at the senior Asia Cup final in Dubai, where India defeated Pakistan to win the title. Despite their victory, the Indian team chose not to collect the trophy or medals from Naqvi during the presentation ceremony.

Due to this unexpected situation, the trophy was not handed over and was later kept at the ACC headquarters in Dubai, where it remains to this day.

The ceremony that day was delayed by over an hour. While Indian players collected individual awards, the team did not accept the winners' trophy. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha received the runners-up prize money, but the event ended without India lifting the silverware.

Later, the ACC suggested holding a separate ceremony in Dubai so India could officially receive the trophy. However, the BCCI reportedly declined the proposal. As a result, the trophy has never been formally presented.

Will there be another trophy dispute?

Now that India and Pakistan are playing once again in an Asia Cup final. If India wins, will the team accept the trophy from Naqvi? Or will another controversy unfold, similar to the one at the senior tournament?

According to reports, Naqvi will lead the presentation ceremony, as he has done in other ACC events this year. His presence will be closely watched, especially given the delicate political and relationship between the two nations.
