In a season first last ball nail biting thriller, Sunrisers Hyderabad were outclassed by Kolkata Knight Riders by a margin of four runs. However, despite the heartbreak, the losing captain, Pat Cummins lauded his team's efforts and blamed Andre Russell for taking the game away from SRH.

In what turned out to be a classic IPL thriller, KKR edged past Heinrich Klaasen's 29-ball 63-run resistance to seal a win by the margin of four runs. Harshit Rana, the youngster, absorbed pressure like a true champion to guide his side through the finish line.

Having said that, SRH perhaps leaked too many runs in the death overs as Andre Russell activated his beast mode with a 25 ball 64 runs knock. Even SRH skipper Pat Cummins agreed with the narrative.

Cummins reflects on heart-breaking loss

In a post-game interview, Cummins said SRH bowled well for almost half of the game until Russell unleashed his unreal potential.

"Yeah, close game in the end. Wonderful game of cricket. I thought for the most part, we were happy with how we bowled. But when Andre Russell gets going, it’s hard to stop him," said Pat Cummins.

However, despite the heartbreaking four-run loss, Pat Cummins was largely happy with the team's efforts.

"(On bowling to Andre Russell) You do your planning but it’s pretty tough to bowl to him. He played some good shots and there were a couple of balls we would have bowled differently. But credit goes to him," he added.

He credited Heinrich Klaasen for taking the game deep with a surreal knock. Additionally, pushing the opposition to the edge on their home ground was a moment of achievement for Cummins, and he affirmed that he did not regret his decision to ball first.

"It’s those ones that either go one way or the other. Credit to Klaasen for the way he played and get us close. First of all, we did well to compete against a team that is great on its home ground. Yeah, happy with the decision to bowl first," Cummins concluded.

Overall, as Pat Cummins said, it was anyone's game, and KKR calmed their nerves at the right time to seal an extraordinary victory.
