In what turned out to be a run feast for batters at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, SRH held off RCB 25 runs short in a 288-run mammoth chase. SRH captain Pat Cummins was meanwhile thrilled to win yet another high-scoring game this IPL 2024 season.

M. Chinnaswamy Stadium produced astonishing fireworks today, as a total of 549 runs were scored in two innings combined. SRH batted first to register the highest IPL team total of 287 runs before RCB replied with 262 runs in a daunting chase.

Nonetheless, winning captain Pat Cummins was relieved to end up on the winning side as the game got quite close at the end.

Cummins took a jibe at the playing conditions, saying that he wished to be a batter today. He also added that after SRH shattered records against Mumbai Indians earlier this month, he didn’t think history would repeat itself so quickly.

"I feel like I wish I was a batter. A wonderful game of cricket. Same happened against Mumbai and I thought it won't happen again but here we are," Cummins said post match.

Moreover, with the chase getting close towards the end, courtesy of Dinesh Karthik’s staggering hitting, Cummins revealed he instructed his bowlers to keep the run rate around 7-8.

"You try your best. When you bowl an over of seven or eight runs, you can have a big impact on the game," he added.

Further reacting to the pitch conditions, Pat Cummins said he no longer relies on any assessment. At Chinnaswamy, even dry surfaces have produced high scoring games.

"I mean I have given up on reading the surfaces. At Chinnaswamy, even if it looks dry, it has given some wonderful surfaces to bat on," SRH skipper explained.

Overall, Cummins was happy with the fourth win of the tournament and revealed that players playing with freedom has been the key to their success this year.

"Four wins so far. Just the freedom with which the players are playing. It's nice to see them keep playing that way and happy with the performance," Cummins concluded.

With the exceptional win, SRH moved to fourth position on the points table where RCB solidifies its position at the bottom of the table.
