This evening, defending champions Chennai Super Kings will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eighteenth group-stage match of the ongoing Indian Premier League season.

Led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chennai Super Kings have had an impressive IPL 2024 run, occupying the third position with two wins in three outings.

After securing thumping wins over Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, the Super Kings lost to Delhi Capitals by a convincing 20-run margin.

Although they incurred a defeat against DC, ex-captain MS Dhoni stole the show for CSK, hammering a belligerent 16-ball 37*, studded with four boundaries and three sixes.

With Dhoni performing admirably, fans and experts were surprised about his demotion as he came to bat at number eight in the game.

So, moving on to their fourth group-stage fixture, former CSK player Shane Watson expects Dhoni to come up the order if the match situation demands his promotion.

"CSK will be learning from the little things that went wrong against the Delhi in their last game and make the most of the things that went incredibly well," Watson said.

"One thing was Dhoni, the way he batted, coming in late in the game, which will mean that hopefully, he'll move up the order when an opportunity presents itself, because he batted as well as I've seen him for a long time," he added.

In 219 innings for CSK, Dhoni, 42, has amassed 5119 runs at an impressive average of 39.08. Considering Ravindra Jadeja's modest returns as a finisher, he might come earlier than him in the slog overs against the Sunrisers tonight.
