After the completion of the ongoing IPL 2025 season, the Indian cricket team will tour England to play a five-match Test series against the host nation. This will mark India's first-ever assignment of the next World Test Championship cycle.

As the anticipation continues to build around India's squad for the tour, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has revealed the exact time when the team will be picked.

BCCI Secretary's Major Update On India Squad For England Tour

According to the Times Of India (TOI), BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the Indian squad for the England Tests would be announced in two weeks' time. It means the Indian contingent that will travel to the European country for the high-voltage series will be unveiled somewhere around the third week of May.

"The team will be picked in two weeks' time," Mr Saikia was quoted as saying by TOI.

India A Team To Depart On May 25; Senior Players To Feature In Unofficial Tests

India's A side will face the England Lions in three four-day games before the senior team's five-Test series. The players, who will be picked for these unofficial Tests, will depart for England on May 25.

India's IPL-bound players will link up with the A squad later, but before the senior players' departure to England, which is supposed to take place in the first week of June. The report states that some of India's first-choice players are keen to participate in one of the unofficial Tests in order to fine-tune their game ahead of the Test series.

The intra-squad fixtures will be conducted in the second week of June, days ahead of the first Test at Headingley in Leeds. The players selected for the Test series will likely leave in batches as they did during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
