The India vs Australia white-ball series is just on the verge of commencing from October 19, and Australia’s stand-in skipper Mitchell Marsh was quite vocal about the series’ positive aspects.
Speaking days before the series, Marsh believes that the series will serve as the perfect preparation ground for the highly anticipated Ashes campaign against England. For Marsh, the timing is ideal, which also sets the men in Yellow up for a tough challenge ahead of a much greater opportunity with England in the next few months.
Marsh on the road to Ashes build-up
The first Ashes Test in Perth is set to take place just 12 days after the conclusion of the India series. The Ashes begin on November 21, and the warm-up against India is exactly what Australia needs.
“We’ll have all the guys building towards the Ashes, but everyone loves playing against India,” Marsh told Fox Sports.
More importantly, Marsh stated that the rivalry between India and Australia will be one to cherish. Marsh spoke of the mutual respect he has for the team as well.
“We’ve got a great rivalry and great respect for them as a team. I think it’s literally perfect timing to be playing against India in the lead-up to an Ashes series. It’s going to be massive,” Marsh added.
If compared head-to-head, Australia has the upper hand with 84 wins over India from 152 matches. India managed only 58 wins, and 10 of them ended in no results.
Kohli-Rohit ready for the challenge
Other than the Ashes buildup, Indian fans have something to celebrate since they will see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the national jersey since the Champions Trophy that concluded in March 2025.
While rumours have it that the Indian duo will be playing their last white-ball games on Australian soil, reports also suggests that both are eager to play the 2027 World Cup and that will be their last swan song from international cricket.
