Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has sent out a bold message to reigning World Test Championship (WTC) winners South Africa ahead of their upcoming two-match series. The ace paceman also signified the importance of the series in respect to the new 2025-27 WTC cycle.

Mohammed Siraj, along with Jasprit Bumrah, will start out as two of the senior most fast bowlers in the Indian team this series where they will be joined by fellow pacemen Akash Deep and all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Mohammed Siraj draws verbal battleline with South Africa

While speaking with JioStar, Mohammed Siraj emphasized the importance of India’s upcoming two-match WTC Test series against defending champions South Africa. While the fast bowler acknowledged South Africa’s recent success in Pakistan, the cricketer also highlighted India’s winning momentum against England and West Indies.

Mohammed Siraj said:

“This series is crucial for the new WTC cycle, especially since South Africa is the defending champion. While they drew 1-1 with Pakistan, we’re confident from our own good form — we created a positive environment, performed well in England, and won against the West Indies.”

Mohammed Siraj also claimed that he is in a “good rhythm” at the moment and wants to make the most of his wicket-taking spree. He added:

“Personally, I’m bowling with good rhythm and looking to make the most of it. Facing strong teams helps identify areas to improve, and I’m really excited for this challenge.”

Mohammed Siraj emerged as India’s leading wicket-taker in the Test series in England, and was the mastermind of the series-decider at The Oval. He also picked up 10 wickets in two matches of the series against West Indies at home.

The first Test between India and South Africa will be played between November 14 and November 18 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
