Jammu and Kashmir walloped Delhi by seven wickets to win their Elite Group D clash of the ongoing 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The outcome also marked Jammu and Kashmir’s first-ever victory against Delhi in any Ranji Trophy game.

Opening batter Qamran Iqbal masterminded the win on a dominant Day 4 by scoring an unbeaten 133 from 147 balls. His captain Paras Dogra registered a first innings century earlier in the match, while fast bowler Auqib Nabi made the early impact by claiming a sensational five-wicket haul.

Jammu and Kashmir have beaten Delhi for the first time ever in their 65 years of playing history, doing so in the Elite Group A match of the ongoing 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season. Chasing 179 runs for a win in the decisive innings in Delhi, opener Qamran Iqbal shaped his career-best first-class score of 133* from just 147 balls with 20 fours and three huge sixes.

Iqbal also struck one of those boundaries to bring up the winning runs for Jammu and Kashmir on Day 4.

Fast bowler Auqib Nabi started off Jammu and Kashmir’s early onslaught with a five-wicket haul on Day 1 to skittle Delhi for just 211 in 69 overs. Captain Paras Dogra then responded with a regal century to push Jammu and Kashmir’s lead to 99 runs.

Left-arm spinner Vanshaj Sharma led Jammu and Kashmir’s subsequent command with a six-wicket haul to complete eight for the match, as Delhi charted 277 to set up a 179-run target for the visitors.

Nonetheless, Jammu and Kashmir’s win marked their second of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season after beating Rajasthan last month by an innings and 41 runs.

Jammu and Kashmir’s spirited triumph over Delhi serves as another testament to their steady rise in India’s domestic circuit, as they continue to topple some of country’s most established sides.
