Team India left no room for doubt as they won both of the first two ODIs against Australia convincingly, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. They won the first ODI in Mohali by five wickets and followed it up with a thumping 99-run victory in the second ODI (via DLS method).

In the absence of star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who were rested, KL Rahul took charge as the captain for India in the first two ODIs. However, both Kohli and Sharma are set to make their return to the team for the third ODI, scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, at Rajkot.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the pillars of Team India in ODIs, have a storied history of record-breaking performances. Now, they stand on the cusp of yet another milestone, one held by none other than the legendary Sachin Tendulkar.

Rohit and Virat Set to Match Sachin's Record vs Australia

The two players have notched eight centuries each against Australia in ODIs. If they can add one more century to their tally against Australia this Wednesday, they will reach the same milestone as the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, who has nine centuries in ODIs against Australia.

The legendary Sachin Tendulkar took 70 ODI innings to achieve this milestone against Australia, while Virat Kohli, with 44 ODI innings, has eight centuries to his credit at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 95.34. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, in 42 ODI innings, has also amassed eight centuries at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 94.42.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's outstanding performances in the 2023 Asia Cup, where India secured a record title win, have undoubtedly raised their confidence levels. As they prepare for the ICC World Cup 2023, their sole mission is to put an end to a decade-long drought in ICC trophies.
