Sanju Samson, the captain of Rajasthan Royals, recently gave his views on playing against MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Samson has faced Dhoni many times over the years, gaining firsthand experience of competing against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend. During a chat with sports journalist Vimal Kumar, Samson shared his candid thoughts on Dhoni and others, including Virat Kohli.
In the podcast, Samson explained that planning against Dhoni is tricky. Despite his retirement from international cricket, Dhoni remains a difficult opponent in the IPL. Samson admitted that his team sometimes avoids overanalyzing Dhoni’s strategy, saying they just move on to planning for other batters.
"It's difficult to plan against MS Dhoni. When Mahi bhai's name comes while planning, we say leave this, check the next one," Samson revealed.
Dhoni is known as one of the best finishers in cricket history. His ability to win matches for both India and CSK has made him an icon. Although Dhoni retired from international cricket after the 2019 World Cup semifinal, his IPL performances continue to pose a challenge for opposition teams.

During the same discussion, Samson also shared his opinion on the best cover drive in cricket. He named Virat Kohli, calling him a master of the stroke. Kohli is widely regarded as one of the top players when it comes to executing a picture-perfect cover drive.
When asked about the best pull shot, Samson gave the nod to Rohit Sharma, known for his effortless sixes on the leg side. For the straight drive, he chose none other than Sachin Tendulkar, a cricketing legend and inspiration for generations.
