After nearly a decade of dedication and significant contributions, Pravin Amre, the long-serving assistant coach of Delhi Capitals (DC), is set to part ways with the franchise ahead of the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. This move comes as part of a broader overhaul within the team, with the GMR Group, the co-owners of DC, taking over the franchise's operations for the next two seasons.

According to the reports of The Times Of India, the former India cricketer turned coach, has been with the Delhi Capitals since 2015, aside from a one-year stint with Mumbai Indians in 2020. His four-year contract with DC has now ended, and both parties have mutually agreed to part ways.

The GMR Group, overseeing the team’s new structure, has indicated that he may be offered a new role within the organization, though it is unlikely to be as direct as his previous involvement.

His departure aligns with other major changes at Delhi Capitals. The franchise has appointed Hemang Badani as the new head coach, replacing Ricky Ponting, while Venugopal Rao has taken over the role of director of cricket from Sourav Ganguly. These moves reflect the franchise’s intent to refresh its leadership as it heads into a new phase under GMR's management.

Pravin Amre's Legacy With Delhi Capitals

Pravin Amre’s contributions to Delhi Capitals over the past nine years have been nothing short of transformative. As both assistant coach and talent scout, Amre was instrumental in identifying and nurturing some of the franchise’s biggest stars.

Among his most notable finds are Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, and Khaleel Ahmed, all of whom have become integral parts of both DC and the national team.

“He was instrumental in getting Shreyas Iyer to DC in 2015, and then the likes of Rishabh Pant, Khaleel Ahmed, and Prithvi Shaw all were recommended highly by him,” a source told the Times of India.

Beyond his role with DC, Amre has played a crucial role in Indian domestic cricket. His coaching successes with Mumbai, India A, and India U-19 further bolstered his reputation as one of India’s finest talent developers.  As Delhi Capitals prepare for a new chapter under GMR's leadership, Pravin Amre’s contributions will undoubtedly be remembered as foundational to the franchise’s rise in recent years.
