Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has praised Gautam Gambhir, the newly appointed Indian coach, for his aggressive approach. Steyn believes that Gambhir's aggressive style will bring long-term benefits to India, citing Gambhir's passion and intensity as key factors.

Gautam Gambhir took over as the new Indian coach after Rahul Dravid stepped down following India's T20 World Cup victory. Gambhir, who led KKR to an IPL championship this season, was chosen by the BCCI as Dravid's successor.

At the same time former Indian coach Rahul Dravid is approached by KKR for the mentor role, after Gambhir left the post.

Steyn backs Gambhir's aggressive approach

Known for his aggressive managerial style, Gambhir has a reputation as a serial winner. His aggressive approach was evident during his playing days as well, a quality that has earned praise from Dale Steyn, who admires Gambhir's attitude.

"I'm a big fan of Gautam Gambhir. I love his aggression, he's one of the few Indians that kinda came back at you. We all became too friendly playing league, we need guys like Gautam who are aggressive, he's a kind gentleman off the field".- Steyn said to Star Sports.

Steyn suggests that the friendship among international players developed through playing in various leagues including IPL has diluted the competitive edge in international games.

With Gambhir assuming the role of Indian coach, Steyn anticipates a resurgence in aggression and intensity on the international stage.

Steyn himself was an aggressive player during his playing days, so there is no much surprise in Steyn backing Gambhir to be successful who is also aggressive.
