While Nayar might have not slammed any runs for India, he has not just been a crucial mentor for Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill and several other India players.

He has also had a remarkable domestic career, a crucial player who had several vital contributions in Mumbai's successful Ranji campaign in 2006. Followed by his 97 against Gujarat in 2006 and finally his 152 against Karachi Urban in the Mohammad Nissar Trophy. In the final of the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy he made a vital 99 that helped set up Mumbai's 38th triumph.

Moreover, Nayar was also a part of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League in early 2008.

In recent times, both Abhishek Nayar and Gautam Gambhir were a part of KKR's support staff.
