After eight years of wait, the Champions Trophy returns to the cricket arena and fans enjoy a nail-biting encounter. As Pakistan faced New Zealand on home soil, they started the tournament with a disappointing 60-run defeat.

Each match is crucial in the ongoing tournament, defeat in the tournament is a massive setback for the hosts. However, former Pakistani star Shoaib Malik remains confident, backing his team for a strong comeback against India.

Malik Is Optimistic About Pakistan’s Strong Comeback

After a long wait, Pakistan finally hosted an ICC event, but their campaign began with a crushing defeat against New Zealand. Despite a strong start, they lost grip on the game, putting them on the back foot ahead of a high-stakes clash against India. But before the ‘Men in Green’ steps into the match, former Pakistani star Shoaib Malik backed the team as he believes Pakistan can make a brilliant bounce back.

“I’m very hopeful that we still have a chance to beat India in our next match. And then we will continue our match with Bangladesh. Of course, morale is down. Confidence is down. But I think the character is still there.” Malik said.

Urges The Senior Player To Take Responsibility

In the previous match, Pakistan started well but lost the domination mid-way and the Kiwi batters didn’t need to look back. While chasing the total, their batting performance was way more than horrible. Batters failed to handle pressure as the Kiwi bowlers shined with immense domination. Ahead of their high-voltage clash against India, Shoaib Malik calls on senior batters to step up and take charge.

“And we have that potential in our team to win against India. And I’m very hopeful. But now it’s their responsibility. The seniors will have to step up. Because it will be a pressure game.” he said.

“And for you, it’s a do-or-die game. Imagine if someone wins a game, do-or-die against India will become an instant superstar. So, I think opportunity is there. There is pressure, but opportunity. Take it as an opportunity.” he added.

After losing the first match, pressure mounted on the hosts as the remaining two matches became extremely crucial. As Pakistan gears up to face arch-rivals India on February 23, the stakes are even higher. Fans are eagerly awaiting another thrilling chapter in the iconic India-Pakistan rivalry.
