Bangladesh have started their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a six-wicket loss against India. It is a short tournament where even one loss can put a team in a danger of elimination and Bangladesh with a loss in the opening game, have moved to a tricky position.
The Bangla Tigers now have two games in their kitty, one against New Zealand and another one against Pakistan. They would need to come up with better performance to make a strong claim and here are the three possible scenarios that would ensure a sure-shot qualifcation into the semis for Bangladesh.
How Can Bangladesh Qualify For The Semifinal Of Champions Trophy 2025?
Case 1 - Bangladesh Win Both Games, India Win Against New Zealand And Pakistan
Bangladesh would qualify for the semis if they win both the games and India also manage to beat New Zealand and Pakistan in their remaning two matches. It would ensure that both Bangladesh and India finish at 4 points while New Zealand with loss to Bangladesh and India will be restricted to two points. Pakistan, on the other hand, will end with zero points and it would make India the number 1 and Bangladesh the number 2 team to qualify from Group A.
Case 2 - Bangladesh Win Both Games, India Lose Against New Zealand And Pakistan
The second scenario that would ensure that Bangladesh qualify for the semis is when they win their both games and India end up on the losing side against New Zealand and Pakistan. It would mean that Bangladesh and New Zealand will have four points in their kitty while India and Pakistan will tie-up at two points and fall short.
Case 3 - Bangladesh Win Both Games, Pakistan Win Against India And India Beat New Zealand
The third scenario will be Bangladesh winning both games and Pakistan notching up a win against India. It should be followed Men in Blue's victory over New Zealand in the final league game. It would mean that Bangladesh end with four points while India will also have four points in their kitty. The other two teams though would be restricted to two points and Bangladesh will qualify.
Note: However, if Bangladesh end up losing at least one of their two games, they can only hope for two of the other three teams to finish the group stage with one win, so that they can qualify based on a superior NRR.
