It was a heartbreak for South Africa against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 final as the Proteas fell short of seven runs from lifting their maiden T20 World Cup title.

It was the first time South Africa reached the finals of a World Cup. Talking about the recently concluded final, it was a game for the Proteas to win. The Aiden Markram-led side required 27 to win off 28 balls at one point with six wickets in hand, but they again succumbed to pressure and failed to seal the win.

David Miller was South Africa's last hope till the end but his 21-run knock came to an end after Suryakumar Yadav took a stunning catch on the first ball of the last over. Notably, the Proteas required 16 runs to win off 6 balls and Miller had almost dispatched the first ball for a six, but SKY took one of the greatest catches in World Cup final history.

After the defeat, Miller was gutted and broke down, while his wife hugged him and consoled him on the ground.

In the latest events, Miller took to Instagram to react to the heartbreaking loss.

"I am gutted!! Really tough pill to swallow after what transpired 2 days ago. Words don't explain how I am feeling. One thing I do know is how proud I am of this unit. This journey was an incredible one, with highs and lows throughout the entire month. We have endured pain, but I know this team has the resilience and will keep raising the bar."

Miller scored 169 runs in the tournament at an average of 28.16, with a half-century and strike rate of 102.42.
