India Women continued their dominant run in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England Women, clinching a historic 3-1 lead with a commanding six-wicket win at Old Trafford, Manchester on July 9. This victory marks the first time India Women have won a bilateral T20I series of two or more matches against England, breaking a long-standing hoodoo after six previous series losses.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed immense pride in her team’s performance after clinching the series and shared that she is positive about making it '4-1'.

Harmanpreet Praises Whole Team's Effort

Harmanpreet Kaur was immensely proud at the post-match presentation as she praised the team's contribution wholeheartedly.

“We are really grateful that we were able to do that (win the series). Really proud of the team, with the way we played. We really needed that momentum and happy with the way they all contributed. We had very good camps (before coming here) and we worked on all of our plans and accordingly, we have executed here. Everyone knew their role and that is how we played. We got a lot of positivity and a good sign that we are able to execute in international cricket as well,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.

On pushing for a 4-1 series win, she added, “We need to keep doing the right things again and again and hopefully we can do that.”

India's All-Round Effort Seal Series Win

The match itself was a showcase of India’s all-round superiority. England captain Tammy Beaumont elected to bat first but struggled to build momentum. Early wickets fell, including Danielle Wyatt-Hodge for 5 and Sophia Dunkley for 22, as India’s bowlers, led by Nallapureddy Charani (2/30) and Radha Yadav (2/15), maintained tight control. England managed a modest 126/7 in their 20 overs.

In response, India’s openers Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana set a blistering pace, with Mandhana anchoring the innings and Shafali attacking with intent. Despite losing both openers in quick succession, the experienced middle order, led by Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues, steadied the chase.

With the final match at Edgbaston on July 12, India will look to maintain their momentum and complete a memorable 4-1 series victory against a strong England side.
