Australian batter Travis Head has expressed that they narrowly escaped with a draw in the previous Test, but their primary goal remains winning the Ashes. The fifth and final Test against England will take place at Kennington Oval in London on July 27.

The visitors claimed victory in the opening Test at Edgbaston and secured a narrow 43-run win at Lord’s. However, England fought back with a three-wicket win at Headingley, and the fourth Test in Manchester ended in a draw.

Head acknowledges that they may have been fortunate in the last Test, but their focus is on winning the Ashes.

Looking forward, Head believes that if they can build on the positives from the first three Tests and set aside any shortcomings, they have a good chance of achieving their ultimate objective of winning the Ashes.

"The feeling around it was yes, we have got away with one, but ultimately we have come here to win the Ashes and we have gone a huge way to doing that. We played really nice for three Test matches, maybe not played the best week last week, but if we can shut that out and think about what we did well for the first three Test matches, it will put us in good stead for this week," said Travis Head ahead of the fifth Test at the Oval.

While a draw in the last Test wasn't an ideal outcome for them, the Australian team remains determined to secure a victory in the upcoming match to retain the Ashes, reckons Head.

"It is mixed emotions because you would love to win a Test match to retain them and hopefully this week we can win a Test match to do it. A draw is a different feeling, no matter what the situation, but there was no real massive elation because we could see the situation coming," Head added.

Despite his struggles in the fourth Test, Head has been a standout performer for Australia in the series, amassing 315 runs at an impressive average of 39.37.

The final Test at the Oval promises to be a significant moment for both teams, and Australia will be determined to give their best performance to achieve their desired outcome in the prestigious Ashes series.
