Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli's tumultuous equation took another turn in December 2023 when the former expressed his admiration for the modern-day Indian batting master.

The two Indian cricketers were involved in a verbal on-field spat during their IPL 2023 match in Lucknow. Moreover, Gambhir and Kohli had an altercation during an IPL match in 2013 when they were part of the KKR and RCB franchises, respectively.

Despite their repeated differences, Gambhir recently left an interesting response over his off-field camaraderie with his former Delhi and India teammate.

Virat Kohli shattered numerous batting records during the recently concluded World Cup in India. He even surpassed all-time great Sachin Tendulkar and his tally of 49 ODI centuries by recording a match-winning ton against New Zealand in the semifinals.

Gautam Gambhir, a part of the broadcasting commentary team for India's December 2023 tour of South Africa, was recently asked to name the Kiwi bowler who was at the other end of Kohli's landmark century. The former opening batsman instantly took Lockie Ferguson's name, leaving his peers impressed with his cricketing knowledge.

Gambhir jokingly urged the broadcasters to replay this footage over and over again for the viewers and claimed that his feud with Virat Kohli does not extend outside the field. He said:

"Lockie Ferguson. Ye aap baar baar dikhana, mujhe sab kuch yaad rehta hai. Ladai meri sirf on the field hai." (Please show this clip over and over again, I remember everything. My fight with Virat Kohli is only on the field)

Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli were not only part of the Delhi domestic team but also stood at the winner's podium together for India after the team's 2011 World Cup triumph.
