In a significant development, top-order batter Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of India's upcoming two-match Test series against South Africa due to injury. Notably, Gaikwad sustained an injury on his right ring finger while fielding during the second ODI against the hosts in Gqeberha.

Upon failing to recover in time, the stylish right-handed batter missed the final ODI in Paarl and has now been sidelined for the remainder of the tour. Bengal's experienced opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran has replaced him in the squad. However, Easwaran is still named the captain of India A team, which will face South Africa A in a four-day game at Willowmoore Park in Benoni.

Meanwhile, promising pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of India A's tour match against South Africa A due to a hamstring injury. While ace spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been released, Sarfaraz Khan, Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar have been included in the India A squad.
