Rohit Sharma is aware of what the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup mean for Team India. In a recent interview with PTI, the 36-year-old assured his devoted fans that he is more than serious about this, even more so than what his ardent admirers could imagine.

The Men in Blue captain highlighted his state of mind prior to the 2019 ODI World Cup, where he finished as the competition's leading scorer with an aggregate of 648 runs and five centuries. In order to silence the critics, he wants to be in the same frame of mind before the Asia Cup, which will begin on August 30.

Here're Rohit Sharma's comments before the Asia Cup

“I want to get into the phase I was in before the 2019 World Cup. I was in a great frame of mind and prepared really well for the tournament. I was in good shape & a good mindset. I want to bring that back and I have time to do that. Trying to recollect the right things,” Rohit Sharma told PTI.

"For me, it is important how I can keep myself relaxed and not worry about external factors that play a role, whether positively or negatively. I want to shut out everything."

Rohit is set to return to action on September 2, when the Men in Blue begin their Asia Cup campaign against Babar Azam's Pakistan in Palekelle. After that, the focus will shift to ODI World Cup, which will get underway on October 5 in India.

Under Rohit's captaincy, India had a disappointing Asia Cup campaign last year. They could not even manage to reach the final, where Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan to lift the elusive trophy for the sixth time.
