[Watch] Amir-Irshad Combine To Get Azam, Turning CPL Into ‘All Pakistani Show’

Cricketers from the same nation rarely engage in batting, bowling, and fielding all on the same delivery when they play in foreign franchise T20 leagues. Such a sight was on display on Sunday when Jamaica Tallawahs’ Mohammad Amir and Salman Irshad combined to get rid of Guyana Amazon Warriors’ Azam Khan in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023.  As you may already be aware, all three of them are from Pakistan.

It was an excellent delivery by Amir which was pitched at short length and moved away around the off stump. Azam had no clue how to tackle it and ended up getting a leading edge. Arshad, placed at the deep third, dived forward to complete an amazing catch.

Amir also dismissed Saim Ayub, a fellow countryman, in the same game. He then completed a well-deserved three-fer by removing Shimron Hetmyer during the later stage of the innings.

Amir has been bowling exceptionally well in the CPL 2023. The left-arm quick has already got six wickets in three matches, averaging 16.66. Only Irshad (seven wickets at 16.28) has more wickets than him in the competition, while Roston Chase is joint-second in the chart alongside Amir.

However, Amir's heroics were not enough for the Tallawahs to win the contest. The Amazon Warriors piled 210/7 on the board after batting first, and knocked over the defending champions for 176 in 18.4 overs to register a 34-run victory.
