The 2nd Test between India and England at Edgbaston has reached an interesting point as the Three Lions have bounced back strongly despite losing five wickets for less than 100 runs on the board.

India, batting first, put 587 runs on the board courtesy of a double century from Shubman Gill. In reply, England lost five wickets for 87 runs, but Harry Brook and Jamie Smith stitched together an unbeaten 220+ run stand.

It has been a great game for the fans and, in particular, Gill, who slammed his maiden Test double-hundred. Several dignitaries were in attendance on Day 2, but the camera focused on 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was watching the India captain play.

India U19 Coach Credits VVS Laxman

In the latest events, India U-19 head coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar revealed that it was VVS Laxman's idea to take the Ayush Mhatre-led side to Edgbaston so the boys could watch the seniors and learn how to build innings in Test cricket.

“VVS Laxman was instrumental in arranging this. He was the one who actually said that it would be a good thing to go and watch this game. It's definitely a special occasion for any upcoming cricketer to be at a Test venue,” said Kanitkar in a video posted by BCCI.

“The main thing I want to take back from what we have watched so far is that not every ball has to be hit for a four and six. You can still be extremely effective, score runs at a good rate, like Shubman has done. When we go back, there will be a session on what they learnt from it,” he added.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi Following Idol's Footsteps in England

The 14-year-old revealed that Shubman Gill is his idol, and like Shubman, he too dreams of playing in the longest format of the game.

Vaibhav is following in the footsteps of his idol and has done well for India U19 during their series against England Lions.

In the first three matches of the five-match tour, the southpaw has amassed 179 runs in three innings, including a fifty-plus score.
